The Dakota State Secular Student Organization was created for atheists, agnostics, skeptics, humanists, freethinkers, and others with similar views to come together to have a collective voice at DSU. Our goal is not to convert, but to open up a dialog to get people talking about certain issues that affect society in America.
SSO is open to anyone regardless of belief system. You do no have to be a member to attend SSO meetings and events. SSO has two types of meetings. We have presentation meetings where a student, faculty, or outside speaker gives presentation. Those take place every other Thursday at 6:30 in East Hall room 105. The other type of meeting is a Scripture Analysis where we read a section from the Bible and discuss it at the meeting. Those meetings are the opposite Thursdays at 6:30 in the Regents Room in the TC. You do not have to share any of our views to attend meetings. The meetings are designed for open discussion.
We have many events every year with lots of topics discussed. Last year we participated in the IVCF/SSO Open Thought Forum. We also participated in the IVCF/SSO Open Forum in fall of 2007. Hopefully we can do another one in the spring semester.
